Random 5 Friday is hosted by Nancy from a Rural Journal
1. Thrift shopping with my friend Mary, where I bought the cutest little plates and tea cups.
2. The health of this goofball. I brought in a bloom from my hydrangea, which Miso promptly chomped on. I looked up the toxicity of the plant, and found out they are poisonous to cats (and dogs). I contacted an online vet to see if they thought I needed to rush her in to a clinic, but they said based on how much she ate (half of a leaf) she should be ok aside from some mild gastrointestinal distress. She ended up only vomiting a little bit one time, and I am extremely glad she is ok.
Please ignore my wrinkly curtains!
3. Dinner and a view with my husband
4. A walk in the park along the Detroit River at dusk
5. My garden is bursting full of kale, cucumbers, radishes, and tomatoes! Now, the tomatoes just have to turn red. Lol.
Erin,
ReplyDeleteDishes are so fun! I love to look at, buy and use fun dishes.
Glad your cat is ok. Spider Plants are not good for cats. There is a chemical in spider plants that affects cats like LSD affects humans. I had cat years ago and a spider plant. Everyone in a while the cat would go crazy bouncing off the walls. After a little research I figured out why.

I am afraid to bring any plant into my home now! So scary! And I will pass that on to my friends with cats about spider plants, I am sure they don't want their cats tripping.
DeleteI love dishes too! I just need more cabinet space now. Lol.
Kitties can sure get into things quickly. I'm so careful with *real* plants indoors. I love thrifting and you found some lovely Blue Willow ... one of my favorite patterns. Wonderful view and dinner you had with your husband. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely going to be more careful. I am already a bit of a freak about my animals, and I actually thought I had that bloom up high enough, but I guess I didn't! No more plants will be coming into my home. Lol.
DeleteI love this Blue Willow - I had never actually seen it before, and now I am in love.
Golly, your cat is adorable . . it looks like she intended to teach you a thing or two.
ReplyDeleteperhaps you have met your perfect-cat-match is this gorgeous feline, hm?
I super like the bird on the railing of your Detroit River Photo . . .
you're so cool.

Lol thanks! :)
DeleteShe is a pretty girl, isn't she? And she definitely keeps me on my toes with all of her antics.
Thanks! The weather was so crazy that night, it was about to start pouring rain but you could still see the blue of the sky further down the river.
:)
I'm so glad Miso is all right! :)
ReplyDeleteHow about some kale chips and fried green tomatoes?
Thanks!
DeleteI love kale chips! And I have always wanted to try fried green tomatoes, ever since I saw that movie. I should try them this week. Good idea!
Hi Erin ~~ Mrs. Jim said that your china is Blue Willow. I Googled it and found an very interesting article about the pattern at Wikipedia. It has been around over a hundred years. Wik. said that there was a 1914 silent film called Story of the Willow Pattern. I too am impressed.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is very pretty. They say that pets can and do eat dangerous plants. I don't know what all they are. I do know that our Adi (beagle dog, my buddy, now deceased since September last) got so sick that they had to keep her hospitalized. The vet said that she very likely had eaten something bad.
..
I will have to google it too! I am definitely in love with my new china, I am going to have to keep an eye out for more. That movie sounds interesting, I wonder if I can still get it anywhere? Maybe Amazon.
DeleteThe ASPCA website lists all of the plants that are dangerous; I neglected to check hydrangeas before I brought it in. I am so happy that I caught her munching on it - at least she only ate a little. :(
I am so sorry to hear about Adi. It is so hard to lose a pet friend. :(
I've always loved blue and white dishes - what a great find! Ooops - I'm glad your kitty is okay! - and, what wrinkly curtains? Isn't that how they're supposed to look? :-) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletei love the at dust shot. what a gorgeous view. ( :
ReplyDeletei love your new dishes ... great design or is that a pattern? any who - i love it!
So glad Miso is OK; she is beautiful.......The park is gorgeous and what an awesome set of clouds...
ReplyDeleteMy husbands's grandmother had this set of blue willow...In fact, she left it to us....I am so afraid of using it because it's so fragile so I display many of the pieces....
Your cat is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWaiting on those ripe tomatoes here, too.. :)
Happy your kitty didn't overdo and that she's okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat wrinkly curtains? :)
My attention was on your cuties goofball cat until you said, "don't mind my wrinkly curtains". I would never have even notice them.
