Random 5 Friday is hosted by Nancy from a Rural Journal
1. My husband and I toured Shinola Detroit - it was very cool and I lots of pictures. They are a Detroit based company that builds bikes and produces Swiss engineering watches, all from their headquarters her in the D. Post to come soon!
2. I made some Bourbon Peach Jam and some Scotch Peach Jam. I honestly like the Scotch version better!
3. I found this series on Netflix and I have been watching it. I am slightly embarrassed to admit it.
4. Finished this book and loved it. Now I want it to be fall. Like right now. And I want to know how to knit. You can read my review here
5. I have been trying to live by this manifesto all year - I thought it was a good time to reread it and recommit to this idea. Read about it here.
Peach Jam with Adult Beverages??? Oooh, I'll be on the lookout. (Also for Gossip - although - from the sound of it, perhaps I won't tell anyone.) Fall is on the way - and YOU can knit - it's easy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Oh yes- I found a recipe for the bourbon version, and mixed it up with the scotch, because I am sassy like that.
DeleteIt is a guilty pleasure for sure. I can't stop.
I am definitely going to try to knit this winter. I am intimidated but looking forward to it.
ohhhh I wish I was your neighbor for some of that jam!!! Love the book jacket...always nice to get reading ideas. visiting from a RJ
ReplyDeleteI love that book, I definitely recommend it!
Deleteyour peach jam sounds divine! i love reading about what everyone is reading ... as if i need more books! love the wild sister manifesto.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty cool, isn't it? I like to use it as inspiration.
DeleteThe jam is pretty good, if I do say so myself! And you can definitely taste the bourbon and scotch in it. And that book! So good!
Both those jams sound pretty yummy to me.. I am watching Orange is the new Black on Netflix. Its pretty good so far. Better than I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
I loved Orange is the New Black!! I devoured it. I wasn't sure about it either, but I ended up an addict of the show. I am on the waiting list for the book, which once I learned it was a book, promptly requested it.
DeleteI love to knit - it's a fall & winter activity for me.. so it won't be long until days are shorter & darker & colder, and I'll be happily nested with my knitting needles. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the manifesto!
I think it was you who commented about the book Prodigal Summer - I read that earlier this summer, and loved it. It was my first Kingsolver book.. I've since read 3 more. Hooked!
Just hopped over to read your review - I'll have to put The Wishing Thread on my to-read list!
DeleteOctober would be the perfect month to start it. ;)
DeleteYes, it was me who mentioned Prodigal Summer -I think that is my favorite by Kingsolver. I have only read Poisonwood Bible and that one though. I guess I should read more by her!
DeleteYes, I feel like a crisp autumn evening would be the perfect time to learn to knit. I am excited to begin!
What a great Random 5, Erin. Especially love that Manifesto. Lots of good stuff to think about there.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at R5F this week. Much appreciated.
I agree, lots of good things to think about in the manifesto. :) I have the manifesto in my office at work as well - sometimes I need to be reminded of some of those things (like breathe) while I am at work.
