Here are a few things that made me smile this week.
1. Lemon Sugar Crepes - light and fluffy and tart, from Le Petit Zinc. And their coffee was heaven, although it gave me the jitters! I love the little courtyard; its a tiny garden oasis within the city of Detroit.
2. A walk in the park with my husband and my dog Penny. Penny, a mild mannered English Setter, is usually a lazy bones unless outside. I had forgotten how excited she gets when around wild birds, and took her to a park with ducks and geese. She pulled me around the place in her quest to hunt and kill.
3. Book Club with my friends.
4. A nice afternoon at Greenfield Village, which was started by Henry Ford. I love the Cotswold Cottage; you can have tea there!
5. Blueberry picking with my friend Jennifer and her son. We have been going together for 5 years. The first year her son was only a year and a half old! It was a wet and misty morning, and I didn't take any photos. Although I know they would have been beautiful, and I regret it. We followed our morning up with lunch at a restaurant overlooking a small harbor, where I had my first Summer Shandy of the season.
How was your week?
How was your week?
The Cotswold cottage really does look like the ones in the Cotswolds amazing..... have a great weekend...
ReplyDeleteIt's authentic. Henry Ford's wife loved the Cotswolds, so he had one of these houses shipped over. This one is from Cedworth, Gloucestershire in the Cotswold Hills of southwestern England. I guess the things you can do with money, right? Lol.
DeleteThose crepes look divinely yum!
ReplyDeleteImagine shipping a home so your sweetheart will be happy. I'm all for it.
ReplyDeleteI loaded the page a couple pf times because the proper date displays above - but the post says June . . it was like a game of discovery.
I suspect I need to visit Detroit sometime . . you make it sound Fabulous.
love & love,
-g-
Lol thanks for bringing the date to my attention!! I am apparently living in the past. I will have to fix that.
DeleteIt is a very romantic gesture. Their home, the Henry Ford Estate, is gorgeous, and has so many cool features. It is one of my favorite places to visit in the area.
Detroit is fabulous! But it does have many problems right now- the last mayor delivered some fatal blows to the city while it was fighting to make a comeback. But there are enough people who don't want the city to fall, and are working hard to revitalize it. Quicken Loans, a huge company, recently opened their headquarters downtown, and have offered great perks for employees that choose to move to the city. Great little restaurants and shops are popping up, drawing people back to Detroit. I think we are at the very beginning of the upswing, but the city already has a lot to offer. Google Map just did this cool little commercial/video in Detroit too.

Sounds like a fun week! I love that cottage and the lush plants and flowers around it. Your dog is a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI love the gardens around that house. I wish someone would do that at my house. Lol. And thanks!
Deleteoh that cottage! i love it! your dog is cute :)
ReplyDeleteAw thanks!! We like her. :)
Deletethe crepes look so good. the little village is so charming and I love blueberry picking. How nice to have a tradition with your friend. Perhaps one day he will be wheeling you both onto the field in your wheelchairs and walkers...What's a summer shandy?
ReplyDeleteThat crepe was amazing and I dream about going and eating another one.
DeleteI love traditions too. And maybe he will be, how sweet of an image is that?
Summer Shandy is the name of a beer. It is so refreshing and only is available in the summer. Until you asked, I had no idea that they were only regional! It looks like they only distribute in the upper Midwest. Here is a link: https://leinie.com/Default.aspx#beers
Mmm! Those crepes look divine, and Le Petit Zinc looks like a gorgeous respite from big city!
ReplyDeletePenny is beautiful. I love English Setters. They have superior hunting skills! :)
I love it there. It is so cute and french. I love seeing the Detroit skyline from the garden!
DeleteAw thanks! Penny is our first English Setter; we volunteer at our local pound and she came in as an underweight stray. :( I knew she was one I couldn't leave there without, and we adopted her. And her us. Lol. We don't hunt, but we can tell that she has before.
We loved Greenfield Village when we went there last fall! That's a lovely shot of the cottage. So, I have no idea what a Summer Shandy is. I think they haven't made their way here yet. Looking it up now . . .
ReplyDeleteI love the cottage and the lush flowers surrounding it gives me a planting idea for mine next year. MMMmm crepes, look so good.
